Hi everyone, I’m Dr. Michael Mantell, always privileged to be joining Bonnie Rabinovitch Mantel, who is the owner and managing partner of The Primus Family Law Group, a family-oriented firm where experience meets results. Hi, Bonnie. Hi, Michael, and happy new year.
(0:21 – 2:16)
What a wonderful start to a new year, right? Yeah, it has been. You know, I’m looking forward to what’s going to happen this year. As am I. Unfortunately, for some families, the new year really tested their custody resolutions, their decisions that they made about visitation with kids, and some are realizing it wasn’t what we planned.
I imagine that people are scratching their heads wondering, can these custody decisions be changed? Can we revisit them? Are you hearing from people now saying, hey, I need some help? You know what, Michael, we are, because the holidays, like you say, are a test. You know, there are orders that are given out, and judges say these. I make the orders.
It’s up to you guys to make them work. And they say that often, and it’s not always intuitive. You don’t always realize if you’re saying, hey, we’re going to split this day this way, or this day that way, that maybe it doesn’t work always for your family’s particular needs.
And so people are calling, saying, how do we modify these orders? It doesn’t work for me. It doesn’t work for them. How do we fix this? And you know, Michael, you can do it in a couple of ways.
Hopefully, and as always, the best and least traumatic, dramatic way is to agree, and then have an attorney draft it up, get it with the court, so those are your new orders. But if you guys can’t agree, we are here to help you file the motion necessary to modify those orders. And if people have questions about this, and I suspect that as the days really begin to unfold in the new year, they will, because they’ll see their children beginning to talk a little bit about how it wasn’t good at mom’s house or dad’s house, or we were forced to do this.
